Dear Friends and Neighbors,
April 11 was the final day to move bills out of the House to be considered in the Senate. Out of the 4,000-plus house bills introduced this session, about 380 moved to the Senate. I’m pleased to share that the five bills I brought to the house floor had bipartisan co-sponsorship and passed unanimously. Two of the bills are described below.
HB3671 was initiated by DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin and serves to protect victims by permitting the trial of a person who distributes private images without consent to be held either in the location in which the victim resides or in the location of the offense. Previously, the trial could only be held where the offense occurred.
HB24 amends the Home Repair and Remodeling Act to extend consumer protections. If a home repair or remodeling contract contains a provision allowing attorney's fees to be awarded to any party involved, it may permit the award of attorney's fees to all parties.

District activities in April centered around transportation, including its importance, challenges and also critical role in economic development.
Thank you for the honor of representing you. I look forward to continuing our conversation and working together to make our community even stronger.
Kind Regards,
Marti
From the State
Last month, Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias launched the ONE Road ONE Focus campaign with the goal of raising awareness about the dangers and consequences of distracted driving. Look for expanded distracted driving patrols and billboard ads to raise awareness. Additionally, new student drivers will be required to watch this video.
Do you have unclaimed funds? Treasurer Michael Frerichs reported that last year, his office returned approximately $299 million to people through the I-CASH missing money program, with the average claim being $902. Check for yourself here.
