The spring legislative session has concluded and it's been a pleasure to return to the district and reconnect with so many of you. From community events to neighborhood conversations, I’m reminded of the energy and character that make each of our communities special.
This June, our office convened both our Senior and Youth Advisory Groups at the district office. I’m grateful for the time and insight these participants offered. Seniors shared thoughtful feedback on key issues like transportation options, communication and access to information, and driver’s license renewal regulations. Our youth participants brought up meaningful topics including in-person connection, AI, dual credit, and direct college admission. Their perspectives are essential as we work to shape a future that serves all generations.
Our fantastic summer interns—Armando, Dylan, John, and Josephine—have played a key role in facilitating these conversations, as well as helping with ongoing constituent service. You may have seen them out canvassing or representing our office at events in Elmhurst, Westmont, Clarendon Hills, Oak Brook, and Addison—and we’re not stopping there. We'll continue visiting neighborhoods across the district to listen, learn and serve.
These activities with residents, businesses, organizations and local governments not only deepen our understanding of local priorities and issues but also help shape future policy ideas and legislation.
We’ve also been working to expand awareness of state grant programs that can support community-based organizations. We’ve learned that many nonprofits may not be aware of existing opportunities. If you represent a nonprofit—or know one that operates in our district—we’d love to connect. Please let us know here.
As always, thank you for staying engaged. I look forward to seeing you out and about this summer!
Kind regards,
Marti
