Dear Friends and Neighbors,

August brought valuable opportunities to engage throughout our district at events, site visits, meetings, and community celebrations. These conversations continue to inform my policy research, focused on potential legislation that will make a difference for our residents.

I had the opportunity to visit the offices of Addison Township and Downers Grove Township. Each township provides a range of important services, including a food pantry and senior services. Addison Township shares a building with the Secretary of State and Assessors offices, making it easier for residents to access help with state services in one location.

Downers Grove Township offers a lending closet, where residents may borrow donated medical equipment such as wheelchairs, canes, walkers, shower chairs, tub transfer chairs, and crutches for a 90-day period at no cost.

These visits underscored the importance of partnerships in connecting residents with everyday resources and support. For more information Addison Township Services, please visit their site and for Downers Grove Township, please visit here.

Also in August, Governor Pritzker signed into law my sponsored bills:

HB3187 modernizes the operations of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and enhances targeted grant programs.

HB3671 ensures that a person who disseminates non-consensual private sexual images may be tried where the victim resides, instead of only where the offense occurred.

SB1274 expands sexual assault services vouchers to cover transportation such as taxis and ride-shares, helping survivors access the care and support they need.

SB1999 makes clarifying and operational changes for the Department of Transportation to lower project costs and modernize reporting.

SB2215 increases access to information about fertility options—including ovarian reserve testing—by making this information available to health care professionals, who can share it with interested patients.

The month concluded with my recognition by the Illinois Environmental Council for achieving a perfect 100% score on environmental policies, earning the title of Green Champion. This accomplishment reflects our shared commitment to safeguarding our environment and addressing climate challenges.

I am grateful for the trust you place in me to represent your concerns, and I look forward to continuing this work together.

Kind regards,

Marti
